Surroundings
From ”Lou Viei Pous” you can reach the summit of the Mont Ventoux in 25 minutes by car. On the summit you will enjoy one of Europe’s most impressive panoramas: from the Rhône-Valley via the snow-covered tops of the Alps and on a very clear day even up to the Mediterranean Sea.
For enthusiastic cyclists, ascending the renowned "Bald Mountain” is a very popular challenge, not only because of the stunning view. From our guesthouse as the starting point (situated near the road leading to the Mont Ventoux) it is within reach for the less trained cyclists, too.
More than worth a visit are the numerous and beautiful medieval villages like Aurel, Monieux and Montbrun les Bains (thermal spa).
The splendid nature around "Lou Viei Pous” offers many paths for nature lovers to explore by bicycle or on foot; like the famous Lavender Route which is just steps away from our house.
The charming village of Sault with its restaurants, small shops, a supermarket (with gas station) and a bustling weekly market, is 5 minutes away by car. Sault offers all the possibilities for buying groceries, shopping and enjoying good meals.
If you feel like discovering the area by bike, the local shop next to the supermarket rents out bicycles. Bicycle repairs are also carried out with care.
Very impressive are the Gorges de la Nesque (near Monieux), the second most spectacular canyon in Provence after the Gorges du Verdon.
If you feel like taking a refreshing dip on a hot day, it takes only half an hour’s drive by car to reach the village of Mormoiron. There you will find the lake ”Les Salettes” with its sandy beach, a bar and a restaurant. A lovely spot to spend an afternoon.
Lovers of fine wines only need a small hour's drive to reach the famous wine cellars in Vaqueyras, Gigondas and many others. But closer to our house, the winegrowers’ cooperatives of ”Côtes du Ventoux” and "Côtes du Luberon” also offer excellent wines.
Finally, enjoying local produce and delicious food is of course the most natural thing in our region.
